Srinagar: The state government on Saturday appointed Inspector General of Police Kashmir range SJM Gillani as Director of Vigilance, J&K. According to official sources, Munir Khan has been appointed as IGP Kashmir.
The 94-batch IPS officer, Gillani has been appointed on the basis of the recommendation of a Committee constituted under Section 22 of the J&K State Vigilance Commission Act, 2011, reads a government order issued this evening.
The government has appointed Munir Khan as the successor of Gillani, sources said. The two, Gillani and Khan actually swapped their places.
With Khan replacing Gillani, Kashmir has now two brothers at two vital positions. Baseer Ahmad Khan is Divisional Commissioner and Munir Khan is the IGP.
