In what may be called as the third biggest seizure of heroin this year in Jammu, the Narcotics Control Bureau(NCB) arrested a truck driver, a resident of Kupwara, who was found to be carrying 50 kg of heroin worth Rs 250 crore in apple Lauren truck.
According to NCB’s Zonal Director Virender Yadav, the truck from Jammu was destined for Delhi.
On specific information, the NCB sleuths intercepted the truck at Banihal toll plaza near Jammu on November 5 and during the unloading of wooden apple boxes, they found that the drugs were packed in pouches stuffed under the apple crates
According to Narcotics Control Bureau, they intercepted Apple laden trucks and during unloading of one truck ‘three wooden apple boxes were found in which 50 packets of heroin have been concealed’.
“NCB, Jammu zone thus effected major seizure of 50.120kg of heroin on 6.11.2018 from an apple laden truck and arrested 1 person, resident of district Kupwara,” NCB said in a statement.
The NCB said that it is the third biggest seizure of heroin of the current year in India by any agency.
They biggest heroin seizure of this year was also effected by NCB Jammu Zone only.
NCB is strengthening its Jammu Zone and Chandigarh Zone and these big seizures are a result of NCB initiatives in North West India.
The truck according to the NCB was destined for Delhi.

Significantly, in the last three months, the NCB has seized 161 kg of heroin valuing Rs 800 crore from Jammu alone. The seized consignments, according to sources, originated from Afghanistan and reached Jammu Kashmir via Pakistan.
