National Anthem verdict: BJP, Congress welcome SC’s ruling, Omar Abdullah questions it

Supreme Court passed an order that the National Anthem must be played in cinema halls before every movie. This order comes with a warning that everyone present in the theatre must stand up and show the respect.

The National Flag must be displayed on the screen before the movie starts, the entry and exit doors must ‘remain closed’ while the National anthem is being played and the foreshorten version should not be played.

Congress  supported  the decision of Supreme Court , but raised questions over the implementation. They said that they strongly support all the decisions which would be related to boost the nationalism.

Congress spokes person Singhvi also said that there shouldn’t be any disrespect for any of the national icons, flag or anthem .

Supreme court says that this decision has been taken to increase the level of patriotism within the citizens of the nation. Adding to it, SC says that it feels good when people shows respect to National Flag and National Anthem.

BJP also welcomed the order saying that it will strengthen the spirit of nationalism and the idea of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’.

“What I believe is that children should be taught about respecting the anthem from very young age… The government needs to amend the 1971 act and correct the MHA advisory,” the Hyderabad MP said.

Ram Gopal Yadav, MP of Samajwadi Party said that it was a good decision and he welcomed it.

On the other hand CM of J&K raised a question “only movie goers need lesson in patriotism?”
