Jammu : A programme was organized in University of Jammu by the office of Programme Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu to formally launch “National Youth Policy-2014 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan” as per the instruction of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. This launch was a part of national level event being organized across the country through NSS Programme being run in 299 Universities.
The Chairman, NSS University Campus Units, Prof. Jasbir Singh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. About 100 NSS volunteers from different units participated in the programme. During the launch function, Programme Coordinator NSS Dr. Vishav Raksha introduced the policies to the volunteers and apprised them of the benefits of the scheme.
Pamphlets containing detailed information regarding the National Youth Policy-2014 & Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan were distributed among the volunteers. The Posters depicting the information were displayed during the programme. The students discussed and acquired information through interaction and the publicity material displayed.
The Chief Guest in his address highlighted the elements of the National Youth Policy and explained its Long term and short term indicators. He explained the students the important of sports and the selfless service. He deliberated in length about the mission of NYP and RGKA.
The function was attended by Programme Officers of the different units of NSS. Prominent among those present were Dr. Rakesh Vaid, Dr. Anju Thappa, Dr. Neharica Subash, and other faculty members and senior NSS Volunteers of University of Jammu.
