Omar Abdullah led opposition party NC has been constantly lambasting the ruling government over various issues that are not being dealt with enough attention and implementation. The party members staged a walkout from J&K Assembly today, over failure of the government to reply to a call attention motion of their members on the situation arisen due to the fatal landslides in his constituency. NC member Mian Altaf sought reply from the Revenue Minister, over the situation that has risen due to the heavy landslides in Kangan constituency. In the absence of Revenue Minister, the ministers present in the Assembly were unprepared and Speaker Kavinder Gupta said that the matter will be taken up later as the Minister was attending proceedings in Legislative Council. The members accused the government of taking the House carelessly and staged a walkout from the House in protest. Mian Altaf said that this is happening for the first time in the history of Assembly that the government and its ministers have failed to reply to the call attention motion.
The opposition members also accused the ruling government of failing to provide succour to the flood-hit areas. They also condemned the government for not being able to do anything to seek Rs. 44,000 crore relief and rehabilitation package sanctioned from the Union government.
