New Delhi, Feb 23, The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed by a group of aspiring students seeking its direction to appear in the National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 examination. A division bench, headed by Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, declined to interfere with the CBSE decision to fix the upper age limit as 25, for general category students, appearing in NEET 2018 exam.
The apex court did not find any merit in the petition filed by the students.
They had challenged the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) decision to fix the upper age limit as 25, for general category students, appearing in NEET 2018 exam. The admission notification was issued on February 9 by the CBSE that conducts the NEET. The eligibility criteria of NEET 2018 was slightly modified from the NEET 2017 stipulations. As per the CBSE, candidates must have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31 December 2018 while the upper age limit has been fixed at 25 years for the general category.
