Srinagar: After tensions erupted between local and non-local students at National Institute Technology (NIT) here, the engineering college authorities have ordered closure of the Hazratbal campus.
Local students Friday afternoon alleged that some of their students were beaten and college infrastructure damaged by the non-local students.
Reports said that Registrar NIT issued an order late Friday evening directing closure of the college till further orders.
Students have been asked to vacate the hostels, “in view of the indiscipline”.
The tension erupted after Indian cricket team was defeated by West Indies team in a thriller World T20 semi-final late Thursday night.
