NIT Srinagar students brutalized over Indian flag, Deputy CM rubs salt on injury

J&K Police beats Non-Kashmiri students ruthlesslyIn what could be termed as nothing but shocking, students of NIT Srinagar mostly from Jammu and rest of the country were brutally beaten inside their hostel rooms by men of Jammu and Kashmir police. There only fault is that they opposed the anti-national slogans raised by local Kashmiri students after India lost match against West Indies . Their second crime was raising the Indian flag and shouting nationalist slogans that led to so much anger in the society in Kashmir and also among policemen that many of these students suffered fractures, serious injuries and were made to bled for doing a right thing.

To rub salt on their injuries, the Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, who has proved to be most inapt leader of Jammu region, who always plays to the tune of PDP, said that it was a mild lathicharge. Singh was forced to eat the humble pie and retreat from his stand when the entire nation expressed its outrage on the social media, and made the entire BJP cringe. It was only after the entire country expressed anger that BJP took congnizance of the crime perpetrated on the innocent students of NIT. It is to be noted that NIT, Srinagar campus is guarded by the CRPF and it has also has a large presence in the campus.

It also has to be noted that while J&K police rarely takes such brutal action against Kashmiri stone pelters who regularly raise the IS and Pakistani flag, the policemen unleashed their frustration against hapless youth who will be engineers tomorrow, and become the vanguard of the nation’s development. Thanks to the social media, and channels like Twitter and You Tube, the crime perpetrated by police was revealed to the nation despite the police and BJP Deputy CM shouting that it was a mild lathicharge.

What is more shocking is that not only police but anti-national elements, local staff and even watch and ward employees had gathered at the gate of the NIT Srinagar to threaten the students. Apprehending danger to their lives, the students appealed to the national media and government to intervene but the reaction from the central government was too late and by then the students had already been brutalized.
Now it is imperative upon the central government to take action against the NIT officials who have behaved as if they were not part of this nation but from the neighbouring country.
