No Colonies to be built on basis of religion: Dy CM

Jammu, November 20: U4UVoice had highlighted yesterday under title “Communal Enclaves in Jammu“, that as many as ten “communal enclaves” are started coming up in Jammu city and its periphery with builders making allotments purely on “religious lines”. The developers of these enclaves have been issuing advertisements in local dailies on a regular basis, the state government so far has remained unmoved by the “emerging threat” to communal harmony in the relatively peaceful region.

The authorities have now taken notice of this issue and ordered a high-level probe into this “conspiracy” to alter the demography of the winter capital of the state.

As per media reports, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh said that no “communal enclave or colony on religious lines” would be allowed to come up in Jammu which is a relatively peaceful region of the state. This is sheer unethical and totally against the secular ethos of the country as well.

“I have directed the vice-chairperson of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) to hold an inquiry and submit the report immediately so that nobody can affect the peace of Jammu region,” the deputy CM added.

Nirmal Singh is also Minister for Housing and Urban Development who further said that No private builder or anybody else will be allowed to come up with illegal and unconstitutional enclaves which has the potential of disturbing the peace of the region. The government would also look into the ‘legal implications” of such enclaves and level of conspiracy as well to know who exactly has been encouraging the private builders to come up with communal enclaves on religious lines.
