Srinagar, July 12: Naeem Akhtar while addressing media persons in Srinagar expressed relief on today’s situation in the valley. The education Minister said, “After 8 deaths yesterday, it was a calm day. Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti ji has asked the the MLAs to reach out to people in their constituency. I am happy that Bandipora and Ganderbal have maintained peace.”
The mediaperson asked for a response on former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, making a statement on the absence of Mehbooba Mufti at the high profile meeting at New Delhi to review the situation in Kashmir. To this the Minister simply answered, “I haven’t heard the statement, I will only react when I read it.”
Some people also questioned the minister as to why the Chief Minister has not made any appeal for calm. Akhtar reassured that the Chief Minister is doing her work at the moment and that she would make a statement at the appropriate time.
