No ophthalmologists in three Jammu districts, patients suffer
JAMMU, Oct. 9 — In the absence of ophthalmologists in government hospitals in three hilly districts of Rajouri, Reasi and Udhampur, patients are forced to travel hundreds of kilometers to reach Jammu for getting disability certificates. Now, the patients of these three districts, are left with no other option but to come to the directorate of health services (DHS) in Jammu.
Leave aside providing equal rights to persons with disabilities so that they are equally included in society and development, even providing them disability certificate seems impossible in these areas.
The disability certificates are required for job related purposes, concession in public transport and student scholarships.
