2019 has been amazing for the operator of the popular video app TikTok. The app saw tremendous growth over the last few months and even got banned for some time in India before getting back online.
Now, there’s a new report that the TikTok owner is planning to launch a smartphone too.
According to the Financial Times, two of their sources have reportedly confirmed that ByteDance is making its own smartphone that will have the said app pre-installed. It appears to be the primary reason behind the company’s decision of making its own smartphone.
This is one way to increase the user base of the apps. Pre-installing the app, generally, makes it obvious for the phone-users to use the app. But it appears that no phone maker is ready to pre-install it.
The report also stated that ByteDance CEO Zhang Yiming wanted to build a smartphone full of preloaded apps. And it’s been confirmed that the company has even signed a deal with Smartisan earlier this year in this regard.
There’s still a lot unknown about this phone. But if ByteDance ends up making this phone, then it’s guaranteed to come pre-installed with ByteDance’s apps like TikTok, Lark, Feiliao, etc. Will it be worth it? Only time will tell how good or bad the phone will be. Let’s wait for what’s in store.
