Now a second Girl disallowed to sit in class 12th board exams

Srinagar, November 18: This is second such incident this week where a student has not been allowed to sit in the ongoing class 12th examination by the school authorities. This time the girl was not given hall ticket by the school for the reason that it was misplaced by the JK board authorities.

The girl who has become the victim of this act of irresponsibility is identified as Shabeena Ayub a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla. She alleged that she was enlisted ineligible for the annual exams of Class 12th but then was made to wait by the school authorities for the roll number slip, which they said, was misplaced by the Board of School Education (BOSE).

As quoted in a local daily, her brother Irfan Ahmed said that when she went to collect her roll number slip from school, she was told to come after some days as it had not arrived yet. After three days, she went there again, the school authorities told her to approach the office of BOSE. She did the same but the board authorities failed to provide her the hall ticket as it has been misplaced.

“Officials at BOSE also failed to provide the hall ticket. Then she again went to the school and they gave me an authorised letter, which was also signed by BOSE officials. She was allowed to write her exams, but when some board officials came to inspect the exam hall, they rejected the letter and said it cannot be used on behalf of the roll number slip,” said the brother.

This is reported as the second such incident within a week’s time where a student has been denied to sit in the exam. Before this, another girl was refused to sit in examination by a school since she failed to clear her dues. The authorities at the Department of Education later came to her rescue and announced that they would hold a special exam for the girl.

Meanwhile, officials at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, said it was unfortunate on the part of the exam conducting body.

“Board officials did not send her the roll number slip. We had given her a letter that she is our student and should be allowed to sit in the exam. It is unfortunate that she missed her exam. She should be allowed to sit in the special exam,” said an official of the school.
