Jammu, August 11: According to a report in the Economic Times newspaper, the “blueprint of the package, which could be worth over Rs 1 lakh crore, is ready and awaits just a green signal from the PM”.
The PDP-BJP coalition is sitting tight with high hopes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can announce a financial package for Jammu & Kashmir on August 15 during his Independence Day speech.
Similar expectations had also risen earlier when the Prime Minister was to visit Jammu on the eve of Eid for the centenary celebration of Girdhari Lal Dogra, a celebrated leader from Jammu and also the father-in-law of Arun Jaitley, the finance minister.
“If everything goes well, the announcement (of the package) will be made on August 15. It may well be over Rs 1 lakh crore,” the paper said, quoting an unnamed senior member of the PDP-BJP coalition government.
