Union Home Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday announced Rs 60,000 crore Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway project.
As per the plan, the highway will pass through Jind, Barnala, Moga and Amritsar. This will reduce distance between Delhi and Katra from 730 km to 612 km.
This report which featured in a leading national daily says that Katra will be connected with 8-lane roads with Delhi and the speed limit will be 200 km/hour. The travelling time distance between Delhi and Katra is expected to be less than 4 hours and between Amritsar and Katra is expected to be less than 2.5 hours.
The work on this project will start from next year.
