Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday accused Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha government of humiliating an honest and efficient officer in the state.
Odisha’s BJP spokesperson Sameer Mohanty said the state government humiliated senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Prakash Mishra by sending him to an insignificant position.
Mohanty said Mishra is known for his success in controlling Left- wing extremism in the state. The officer’s contribution in modernisation of the police force and the traffic system is also an example, the spkesperson said in a statement.
Urging the Patnaik government to allow Mishra to move to Delhi, Mohanty said: “It is most unfortunate that the state government which recommended his (Mishra’s) name for central (government) deputation has withdrawn it later.”
