Old currency notes still being used for drug trade


Demonetization did not affect drug addicts to greater extent. Infact, it is proving to be beneficial for the smugglers. The drug consignments are being sold at double prices. On Monday, Gangyal police, Jammu had arrested some drug addicts with the old currency notes of Rs. 10 lakh.

Gulzar Ahmed from Budgam district, Kashmir departed for Delhi in a truck full of Apples. But the truck was not only loaded with apples but with drugs too. The drugs had to be sold in Jammu.

Gangyal Police got some sort of information regarding this. But the smuggler changed his route and he routed for Delhi via Mansar.

After unloading the apples in Delhi, he was about to come back when some person gave him old currency notes of Rs. 10 lakh. But the person was asked to give that old currency notes to Shafi from Anantnag.

Gulzar was on his way to Jammu with old currency notes worth Rs. 10 lakh. Lakhanpur police was informed about this.

The person was then arrested by the police.
