Omar presided over most corrupt regime in JK: Mehbooba
‘He has no moral authority to talk about corruption’
Pulwama: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti today said that Omar Abdullah has no moral authority to talk about corruption as he not only presided over the most corrupt regime in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, but is himself under scrutiny for promoting political corruption in the State.
“National Conference (NC) is the fountainhead of corruption and it will only need an honest investigation of allegations against its top leadership to bring them to justice,” Mehbooba said while addressing a series of election rallies here to enlist support for the party candidates.
Senior Party leader and MLA, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, who is also PDP’s candidate for Pulwama constituency was also present on the occasion.
Referring to Omar Abdullah’s insinuation against PDP on corruption issue, Mehbooba said the functionaries of NC-Congress coalition government have a lot to answer on corruption issue and if impartial investigations are conducted into the scams of the present government, some of its leading lights would end up in jail.
She said Rs 113 Crore cricket scam is an open and shut case and going by the documents in public domain the main characters should have been in jail as it would not need even a lengthy investigation to bring the culprits to book. “The prosecution in the case was reportedly blocked on the intervention of the Chief Minister’s office to save the NC leadership from landing up in jail,” she said and added that Omar Abdullah’s alleged involvement in the mysterious murder of Haji Yousuf at the official residence of Omar Abdullah is a case of political and moral corruption and is still awaiting thorough investigation. “The Haji Yousuf murder case is in fact still pending before the Supreme Court,” she added.
Mehbooba said NC leaders should tell people wherefrom they have got the properties spanning from Soura to MA Road, MA Road to Gupkar, Gupkar to Gulmarg, Gulmarg to Bathindi, Bathindi to Sanavar, Sanavar to Delhi, Delhi to Mumbai, Mumbai to London, London to South Africa, South Africa to Spain, USA and so on and so forth.
She said people have every right to know how hundreds of kanals of of Nazool, state, custodian and Kahcharai land in and around Srinagar was grabbed by NC leaders in and around Srinagar during the past six years. “There is of course a need for thorough investigation on how the first family of National Conference and most of the coalition ministers amassed assets beyond their known income, the drug scandal; PHE scam; forest land grab; kickbacks in various projects; Toshkhana properties; construction of palatial residences and acquisition of vehicles of royal standards, BOPEE scam and so on and so forth,” she said and added that even his best friend Rahul Gandhi seems to have now realized that he was backing on the wrong horse in Kashmir.
She said despite facing people’s wrath, NC seems to have not learnt any lessons and continues to indulge in politics of falsehood, deceit and malevolence to betray people. “But people in general and the youth in particular have well understood the demonic anti-Kashmiri designs of this party and they can’t be fooled by such filthy tricks anymore,” she said and added that instead of beating about the bush through juvenile pranks, the functionaries of NC-Congress coalition government led Omar Abdullah should come clean on their misdeeds.
Referring to the local issues, the PDP Chief said besides having immense potential in horticulture, agriculture, tourism, trout farming, hydroelectricity, industries, the entire Pulwama district has been deliberately ignored by the National Conference-led government over the last six years. “Once voted to serve, the PDP will harness that potential to the best satisfaction of the people so that Pulwama district in real sense becomes a model district in the entire Country,” she said.
Mehbooba said the September deluge this year’s has wreaked huge devastation in the Pulwama district also by destroying standing crops, horticulture, residential structures and other infrastructure and the PDP has formulated a special plan to build the lives, livelihood and infrastructure afresh.
Mehbooba said pathetic condition of roads and other vital infrastructure in the district signifies the callous attitude and step motherly treatment the Pulwama district has fore born over the years and it will be the sincere endeavor of the PDP government led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to give a new facelift to the area. She said construction of the circular road will be taken up on priority to ease the traffic congestion in the Pulwama town and in its adjoining areas.
