Omar showing fake concern for Jammu: Mahajan



Jammu, July 8: Peoples democratic Party has taken to task Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for shedding crocodiles tears on showing love for Jammu region at the last leg of the coalition government’s tenure.

Former MLC and Senior leader of PDP, Ved Mahajan today criticised Omar Abdullah and said for the last five years and seven months Chief Minister has maintained a silence over Jammu’s woes but now he has been trying to projecting himself as well-wisher of Jammu. Mahajan raised questions about his intention and said that Omar has realised that his party National Conference is not going to get seats from valley in the coming Assembly elections so all of sudden his love for Jammu is pouring out.

Mahajan said Chief Minister and his cabinet colleague from Jammu were very much aware of the fact that with the extension of trains to Katra the business of Jammu will suffer a lot but since formation of National Conference led coalition Government Omar Abdullah has done nothing to complete various tourism projects like Tawi lake, Mubarak Mandi cable car project, Border tourist circuit, Gharana Wetland, religious tourist circuit and improving tourism infrastructure in and around Jammu. Mahajan said instead of starting new tourism projects even the pace of projects which were started before formation of his Government, was slowed down..

Mahajan questioned Omar if he was aware about the fact that with the start of the Udhampur- Katra rail line Jammu will meet the fate of Pathankot, why he remained a silent spectator and has not increased the pace of previous projects and started new one so as to divert maximum number of Vaishno Devi pilgrims to the winter capital. Mahajan said PDP has apprehension of Jammu’s suffering and has already formulated plans to boost the tourism and economy of Jammu but those who were in power had fully ignored it. He said that in coming election the ruling coalition partners has to pay for it and will be rooted out from the state politics.
