New Delhi: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is all set to tie the knot with Aishwarya Rai, the eldest daughter of RJD MLA and Bihar’s former transport minister Chandrika Rai. Reports say that the wedding ceremony will take place on May 12 whereas the couple will exchange rings on April 18 in Patna’s Maurya hotel.
As soon as reports of Tej Pratap’s wedding came out, the bride’s name, Aishwarya Rai, started trending on social media.
Twenty-five-year-old Aishwarya hails from Chhapra and is the daughter of RJD MP Chandrika Rai Rai and granddaughter of ex-chief minister of the state Daroga Prasad Rai.
Reportedly, Aishwarya’s nickname is Jhipsi – a word used to refer to light rains in Bihar.
She did her schooling from Patna’s Notre Dame Academy. After that, she moved to Delhi and did her graduation from the elite Miranda House College and MBA from Amity University.
Aishwarya, the would-be-wife of former health minister of Bihar, is the eldest among her siblings. She has one sister, Ayushi Rai, and a brother, Apurva Rai. Ayushi is an engineer by profession and Apurva is pursuing law.
In 2017, during a press conference in Patna, Lalu Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi had declared that they would not take dowry in the weddings of their two sons – Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav.
On the occasion of Lalu’s 70th birthday, Tejashwi’s mother and former Bihar CM Rabri Devi had created controversy after she said that she would prefer only ‘sanskari bahus’ for her sons- Tejashwi and Tej Pratap.
Speaking to reporters, Rabri Devi had asserted that for her two sons, she wanted daughters-in-law who “will respect them, abstain from trips to the mall, and run the house smoothly”.
