Jammu: 16 September 2016, Army celebrated the traditional festival Onam at Kishtwar on 14th September 2016. Onam is one of the important festival of Kerala. Onam is also called the festival of harvest and is celebrated on culmination of harvesting season by offering Kheer of fresh rice cultivated in the season to the God. On mythological perspective, it is said that Asur King Maharaja Bali was granted wish to visit his erstwhile Kingdom to meet his subjects once in a year on Onam by God Vishnu, who had taken away his Kingdom in donation by posing as Vaman Dev in Vaman avtar.
The function was graced by Commander of Kishtwar Rashtriya Rifles Sector, civil administration officers to include DC Kishtwar, SP Kishtwar. All dignitaries gracing the occasion wished all Jawans and their families on this occasion.
