‘Only BJP MLAs should vacate bungalows? What about 10-year old ex-MLAs?’ Sat Sharma
Jammu March 10: While addressing media persons, BJP MLA from Jammu West, Sat Sharma said that through media he had heard that the ministers of the BJP and the PDP were ordered to vacate government houses and notices have also been given to the occupants.
The state BJP president however expressed dissatisfaction on the order saying that he was deeply hurt because there are few people who are not in the ministry or are not even MLAs since the last 10 years and they are still living in government houses. He questioned the vacation orders for BJP MLAs and said that till date no orders have been issued against the ex-MLAs.
He further said that until the formation of the new government, all the legislators must be allowed to stay in the houses and if there is a need to make changes if portfolios are changed once government comes into existence, they should be given notices to leave the place. He added that as of now there is no need to issue such notices keeping in view the security of the legislators and also the fact that government formation was under process.
Another BJP MLA and former minister in the BJP-PDP alliance, Sukhnandan Kumar addressed the media fraternity saying that the he did receive the government notice and has told the estates department that the ministerial bungalow which was allotted to him in Kashmir valley can be taken back anytime.
Echoing the BJP president’s sentiments, the former minister however rued that it was not justifiable to order the MLAs to vacate the MLA residences even when they have won the elections and are assembly legislators. Further he said that there are few people who have lost the elections and even then they have taken a stay in order to reside in the government houses.
