Only Kashmiris in JK Bank’s 12 young achievers of J&K


With nearly a month left for the new year to begin, JK Bank’s selected list of 12 young achievers is out. Called the ‘Wall of Fame’, next year’s calender will feature the young guns of J&K. Alas! The short-listed names suggest that it is meant only for Kashmiris as not a single person from Jammu has allegedly made the cut in top 12.

While this year Jammu has seen many a talented buds arising form Jammu including Chain Singh who represnetd India in Olympics, Piyush Bhagat of Dance Plus Fame, Meenu Mahajan who won Miss India exquisite. these are some examples to start with, But, this is not the first time Jammu has been left out. 

Meanwhile, as per recent speculations, here is a list of nominated names:

Fashion designer Zubair Kirmani


Zubair Kirmani is the first Kashmiri Muslim who became a fashion designer and introduced his creations at the ramp under the famed brand Boune Pun. It was really hard for him to be a fashion designer while pursuing Kirmani did a lot of efforts to convince his parents so that he could achieve what he actually wants.

Twitter’s Raheel Khursheed


Rasheel Khursheed is a Kashmiri Muslim who is an online activist and a former journalist who actually heads news, politics and government section of twitter. Rasheed is 33 years old. He provides technical support to news, government and political users of twitter.

Educationist Sabbah Hajisabbah hajji

Sabbah Haji is the Director of Haji Public School in Doda region. She was born and raised in Dubai and she completed her higher education and worked in Bangalore for almost a decade before moving back to her native Chenab Valley in 2008.

Programmer Mehvish


Mehvish Mushtaq is computer engineer and the first Kashmiri girl to develop an android application “Dial Kashmir” in 2013. It is a kind of yellow pages. She was one of the 15 Indian women, the youngest Kashmiri female entrepreneur, who was honoured with the “Devi Award” for innovative thinking.

Tajamul Islam is 8 years old and had created a history at Kickboxing Championship in Italy. She won a gold medal in sub junior category and made India proud. She is a native of Bandipora district, Kashmir.

Cricketer Parvez Rasool

Born in 1989, Parvez Rasool is a cricketer, who plays as an all-rounder for J&K. A right-hand batsman and off-break bowler, Rasool captains the state team and also plays for team India.

Footballer Wadoo

Mehrajuddin Wadoo is a footballer who belongs to Srinagar. He represents the Indian national team and Sporting Clube de Goa.

IAS topper Dr Shah Faesal

Shah Faesal

Dr Shah Faesal is an IAS officer. He was born in 1983 and became an IAS officer in 2013. First Kashmiri to top the Indian Civil Services Examination. Faesal has been an inspiration for many civil service aspirants in Kashmir.

Basharat Peer of Curfewed Nights

39 years old Basharat Peer is journalist and writer from Kashmir. He recently joined New York Times as an OpEd Editor. He is the author of the famed Curfewed Night, an eyewitness account of the Kashmir-conflict. He had written the script for Bollywood movie Hyder.

Khurram of K-apple fame


Khurram Mir hails from South Kashmir. He had done his MBA from US and after completing his studies he returned back to his native land. He is an entrepreneur and he wanted to take his homegrown apple to new heights. He also introduced the first-ever high-density apple orchards.

Household name RJ Nasir


Sardar Nasir Ali Khan aka RJ Nasir of Big FM – Srinagar’s first RJ – is a household name in Kashmir. Besides entertaining listeners, he’s equally appreciated for highlighting issues faced in day-to-life with all his wittiness, and for his humanitarian efforts in the times of crises likes floods.

BSF exam topper Nabeel Ahmed


Nabeel Ahmad Wani, who is a native of Udhampur district, Jammu topped the BSF’s Assistant Commandant Examination in 2016. He is the first Kashmiri to have achieved this feat. Nabeel always wanted to fight against terrorism so he decided to join the armed forces.
