Operation Sanjeevani hits 3 cases of Drug Smuggling in Jammu


Jammu: Drug smuggling is something which is growing rapidly in the state. In a special drive against drugs launched by District police Jammu, three interstate major drug rackets have been caught by the police. Drugs worth multi-lakhs have been recovered in by the police team led by SSP Sunil Gupta.

The first incidence happened on 28/29 night of august 2016 near Shiv Temple Trikuta Nagar from which the police caught three vehicles and five persons carrying 15kgs of charas. Two of the five persons named Suraj Prakash and Altaf ahmed were from Mumbai.

The second incident on the same night was caught near nagrota during patrolling on national highway in a Maruti car and three persons carrying 3.5 kilos charas.

The Third incident again on the same night was caught at Transport Nagar,  Jammu. where a truck carrying 150 bottles of Corex brand syrup was recovered by the police.

The head place from where the drugs have been sent of have been Bij Behara Anantnag, Phugwara in maximum cases.

“It’s a major success of operation sanjeevani to have recovered as big as 15kg’s of  drug in one night. People should be aware of it and let us know if they experience any such suspicious activity around them. All packets are packed separately and are ready initially. Two person’s were from Mumbai who were in the racket. we will investigate about them through Mumbai Police to know there delivery end points.” said, SSP, Sunil Gupta .
