Srinagar, May 1: More than one lakh people border district of Kupwara are reeling under darkness from last five days as 6 MWV receiving station of the Ganapora got damaged.
The uneven damage plunged more than 40 villages in darkness and resulted in huge loss to the cool point shops as more than 2 quintal ice creams melted. The breakdown of electricity resulted in trouble to people.
A local resident while speaking to a reporter said, the receiving station in Ganapora is heavily overloaded as more than 40 villages are receiving electricity just from 6 MWV Transformer and they are facing shortage of electricity because of its low capacity; we many times approached the authorities to increase the capacity of transformer but all in vain.
