Over six injured in Tral protests; Geelani calls for shutdown
Over six people have been reported killed in clashes with Police in Tral of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district during protests over the killing of a youth in an army operation where the locals have claimed the deceased as a civilian and the security forces are maintaining that he was a militant.
Over a hundred people gathered to protest against the killing and pelted stones on the security forces after the funeral of the deceased Khalid Muzaffar who was allegedly killed in an army operation near Buchoo village of Tral, as reported by Police.
The security forces fired tear smoke shells to disperse the seething crowd,which has resulted in injuries to over six people as per fresh reports by the officials. The injured were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital.
The protesters alleged that the youth was a civilian while the Army maintains that he was a militant.
Meanwhile, hardline Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a shutdown in Tral and adjoining areas on Wednesday to protest against the killing.
