KULGAM, JULY 22:- To take stock of the situation arisen due to cloudburst in Nandimarg area of Noorabad constituency in Kulgam district, Minister of State for PHE, Forest, Animal Husbandry and Irrigation & Flood Control, Mr. Abdul Majeed Padder today conducted an extensive tour of the area and received the first hand appraisal of the situation which caused damages to the assets and crops in the area.
Accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Chief Engineers of PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control Departments, besides officers of PDD, CA&PD, R&B and other departments, the Minister visited Nandimarg, Chowgalpora, Noorabad and other adjoining areas.
The Minister also visited the families whose houses were damaged in a recent fire incident.
While visiting the cloudburst hit area, the Minister expressed his solidarity with the affected families and assured them that all possible help and relief will be provided to them in this time of catastrophe.
On the occasion, Mr. Padder distributed Rs 5000 to each affected family and directed providing free ration for one month and 50 feet timber to affected families.
While visiting the affected families of recent fire at Chowgalpora, the Minister also expressed his sympathy with them and provided Rs. 2500 to each affected family besides tents and quilts.
Mr. Padder also visited Nandimarg road which was closed due to the cloudburst and inspected the ongoing road clearance work which was made motorable subsequently. He also inspected the Nehama bridge on Vashov Nalah and directed Chief Engineer I&FC to remove the filth from the Nalah and embankments so that there is no water logging.
