Jammu, April 13: Padma Sachdev, 76-Year-Old a born-poet and novelist has been chosen for the prestigious Saraswati Samman for the year 2015 for her autobiography written in Dogri language.
Her autobiography ‘Chitt-Chete’, published in 2007, was selected from 22 works, from all the languages published between the years 2005-2014.
The award is given every year for an outstanding literary work.
It should be written in any Indian language by an Indian citizen and should be published during last 10 years.
It carries an award money of Rs 15 lakh, along with a Citation and a plaque.
Sachdev, has 60 books to her credit in Hindi and Dogri.
For ‘Meri Kavita Mere Geet’ she was a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi award in 1971.
Sachdev has also shown historic photographs with dignitaries from her state, nation and the world, in her 662- page Aotobiography.
The selection was done by the jury presided by former Chief Justice AS Anand.
