India and Pakistan have been a part of a lot of debates and diplomatic meet-ups but the bilateral relations between two is not better than Tom and Jerry (not respectively). No, I do not mean to belittle the efforts of the Indian army and the sacrifices of the brave jawans guarding the LoC, but the violation of ceasefires has reduced the operation to a blame game of sorts. And a nasty one at that.
While the nastier ones lead the way to more board-room talks, the nasty ones (often in poor taste) end up making the rounds of Twitter, giving all a good day’s laugh. Let me explain with an example.
It so happened that Maj Gen Asif Gafoor, the official spokesperson of Pakistan Armed Forces recently informed his followers in thousands about an Indian spy drone that Pak military shot down.
“INDIAN QUADCOPTER SPYING ACROSS LOC IN RAKHCHIKRI SECTOR SHOT DOWN BY PAK ARMY SHOOTERS. WRECKAGE HELD.”
Yes, that’s what he tweeted. Yes, that’s a DJI consumer drone.
Shortly after the ‘breaking news’ surface, Omar Abdullah was one amongst the many who took the opportunity to lend a hand of support to the other side.
