In a bizarre move, a Pakistan Railways official has requested for a 730 day leave on full pay (LFP), citing the reason that it was impossible to work with the new Federal Minister for Railways, Shaikh Rashid Ahmed due to his “unprofessional and ill-mannered” attitude. His application has now gone viral on social media.

As reported by Geo News, Hanif Gul, the leave applicant, is a Grade-20 officer in Pakistan Railways. He wrote in his letter that as an honourable member of the Civil Services of Pakistan, it was not possible for him to work under Shaikh Rashid Ahmed who took office on 20 August 2018.

“With due respect, it is submitted that the attitude of the new minister is extremely non-professional and ill-mannered. As an honourable member of the Civil Services of Pakistan, it is not possible to continue to work under him. The minister is fully entitled to work with a team that shares his vision. It is therefore submitted that 730 days leave may be kindly allowed to the undersigned,” Hanif Gul wrote in the letter.

Copies of the letter are being circulated heavily on the internet. Even Pakistani journalists like Gharidah Farooqi and Omar Quraishi have tweeted about it.

However, the application has drawn a lot of criticism from diplomats. Some users on Twitter said that Gul cannot go on a two-year leave and expect to be fully paid.
