Palm Island Case: 5 Days judicial custody for Amarnath Chaudhary

JAMMU, Apr 8: The Court yesterday rejected the bail application of Amarnath Chowdhary, main accused in committing fraud of Palm Island Mall, and sent him to judicial custody for five days.
Amarnath Chowdhary, yesterady reached the Court of Judicial Magistrate, Ist Class, City Judge Jammu seeking surrender bail but did not get the relief.
Rejecting the bail petition, Court granted his judicial custody to Crime Branch, which arrested Amarnath Chowdhary in the court premises and sent him to Kot Bhalwal Jail.
The court said that the dispute was not between two individuals but more than 200 persons are involved in the matter. The hard earned money is put at stake between the landowner and the builder for which the clients can not be made to suffer, the court stated.
The court further and refused the bail to Amarnath Chowdhary, as there is every chance of tampering with the prosecution evidence and witness of the prosecution can also be approached.
Amarnath Chowdhary allegedly showed fake land titles to a real estate company from Rajasthan and he claimed to be owner of the land.
However, when the developer constructed the building making investment worth crores of rupees, Mr Chowdhary refused to sign the agreement to sell favouring the investors.
Meanwhile, the same court granted bail to Mohini Devi, wife of Amarnath Chowdhary on the ground that she was an old aged woman, has no active role in the whole process.
