Pandemonium in J&K assembly, house adjourned

Srinagar, June 3 The Jammu and Kashmir assembly was adjourned on Friday following pandemonium as opposition MLAs stormed the speaker’s podium to protest against a government order allowing mining rights to non-local bidders.

Some members of ruling coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs were also seen near the podium as repeated requests from Speaker Kavinder Gupta failed to restore order.

The speaker then adjourned the house for 15 minutes.
