Interrogation of Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Zubair Ahmed Mughal has revealed that the group was in touch with the National Panthers Party leader Farooq Ahmed from whose residence he was arrested last week.
Mughal aka Amir Muaviyah is a resident of Karachi and was arrested on January 15 from Farooq Ahmad’s residence in Sopore. Farooq Ahmad is a Sarpanch in the Choora locality and had also contested the polls from Sangrama in the Assembly Elections held in December.
A police officer told, “It has been found that Farooq was in touch with Lashkar militants and had asked him to work for them. Muaviyah was staying at his place since four or five days.”
Farooq had also tried to hoodwink the security forces when the raid was carried out.” He had told three of his guards that the militant was his guest from Ghaziabad. Even after the police overpowered him, Ahmad continued to trick them with his statement,” said the officer. The three guards have been suspended now for they failed to recognize the militant.
Muaviyah confessed that he infiltrated into Kashmir on September 8 through the Teetwal sector.
