Patnitop, other areas in J&K to get Rs 500 Crore for development


Jammu: The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) chaired by Union Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi has sanctioned Rs 500 crore for the development of tourism in the state under Swadesh Darshan Scheme. This scheme is a part of Prime Minister Reconstruction Plan (PMRP).

As per the plan, Rs 99.99 crore has been allotted for Mantalai – Sudhmahadev – Patnitop Circuit , Rs 99.99crore for Rajouri-Bafliyaz-Shopian circuit,Rs 99.98 crore for Baramulla-Kupwara-Leh circuit, Rs 99.75 crore for Anantnag-Kishtwar-Pahalgam – Daksum – Ranjit Sagar Dam Circuit.


Some other highlights of this plan are developing interpretation centres for Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims, improving and modifying trekking base camps and sound and light show at Shalimar Bagh.

Not only this, a convention centre will be developed at Patnitop and Gulmarg. Development of Water Sports Centre at Baghliyar Dam – Pool Doda is also on the priority list.
