Patnitop to be developed as major tourist destination: Priya Sethi
JAMMU: Minister of State for Tourism, Education, Technical Education, Culture, Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi today said that the Government is committed to promote and develop Patnitop as a major tourist destination of the state and number of initiatives have already been taken in this regard.
The Minister was chairing a meeting to discuss the modalities and timelines for developing Patnitop as major tourist destination of the state here today.
The Minister stressed on convergence of various departments for ensuring excellence in delivery mechanism of the services provided at the site.
The minister issued directions to the R&B department to complete 5.5 Km circular road within a month time. In this regard she directed the department to take up the issue of land transfer with the forest department.
She stressed on general cleanliness of Patnitop especially meadows and tourist spots. “There is need to develop massive flower beds and further landscaping of meadows to showcase Patnitop in all its natural grace and charm to attract more tourists to the area” she suggested.
The Minister also directed Director Horticulture to come up with the proposal to develop Tulip garden at Sanasar and lupin and lilium gardens on the hill slopes at Patnitop. She further directed the department to place gardeners at the disposal of PDA for maintenance of these gardens.
