Srinagar: Use of PAVA Shells as an alternative to pellet guns for crowd control in Kashmir, has become a matter of concern for the security forces.
The direction of wind is very important while using PAVA Shells. When these shells are fired, the wind from the opposite direction creates smoke which is directed against the soldiers and that is why the security forces are refraining themselves from using these shells.
Out of 1000 PAVA Shells that were sent to the Valley only few have been used till now. According to sources, these shells were used only once and for the last five days the forces have stopped using it.
Instead of helping them to control crowd, the soldiers are suffering due to the opposite direction of the wind.
