Jammu, June 22: Terming the present PDP-BJP government as a directionless, JKPCC Chief Mr. Ghulam Ahmed Mir has said that an atmosphere of total chaos, confusion and uncertainty prevails in the state due to the wrong policies of the state and the centre government.
Addressing a meeting of the extended committee of the PCC Executive of Jammu province here today, PCC Chief said that the state government has miserably failed on all fronts and its over 100 days in office has only given rise to a situation of uncertainty, chaos and confusion because the present unholy coalition lacks direction in the absence of any common point in their respective agendas.
Mr. Mir also expressed serious concern over the vitiating atmosphere of peace and tranquility in the state due to the wrong polices of the present governments in the state and at the centre. He cautioned the people about the designs of communal and divisive forces in the state who are constantly on a lookout for opportunities to strike and create hatred.
PCC Chief strongly criticized the Central government for its denial of rehabilitation package for the flood and rain affected people and lashed out the PDP led government in the state for its utter failure to secure the Rs. 44000 crore package for the affected people. He said that the relief and rehabilitation of the flood and rain affected people should have been the top most priority of the state and the centre government but they have remained an utter failure on this front.
President JKPCC gave the detailed briefing to the party leaders of the series of activities of the party during past around three months in every district, since he took over and expressed gratitude to the partymen and grass root workers for their whole hearted cooperation and support. He said that party leaders and cadres have put in their best efforts to gear up the party setup and take up the issues of people vigorously as a result Congress has remained on the forefront on all issues of people of three regions during this period.
PCC Chief referred to the struggle for AIIMS in Jammu and said that party would continue its struggle till the demand of people is fulfilled. He said that Congress stands committed to fight for balanced and equitable development of all three regions of the state in every spheres. He said the leader of opposition Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad had also written to the Prime Minister for ensuring justice and equitable treatment in this regard.
He (Mir) conveyed his gratitude to the central leadership of the party and also senior leaders of the state for their full cooperation and whole hearted support to further strengthen the party. He said that the unity is the strength of the party and expressed satisfaction that the entire rank and file of the party is united and together to strengthen the party and the leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhi. He said that there is enough space for all genuine and meaningful persons in the party especially those who are amongst the people. He also sanitized the party leaders to gear up their activities in their respective areas especially in the urban localities to strengthen the party setup in the wake of possible urban bodies elections in the state which are very essential for strengthening grass root institutions of democracy.
Earlier, Senior Vice President PCC Mr. Sham Lal Sharma gave a detailed account of ongoing membership drive in each block of Jammu province and expressed satisfaction over the interest shown by the workers and the people as a result there is tremendous response to the Congress membership drive. He also asked all District and Block units to gear up in this regard and deposit the details at the earliest.
A resolution was adopted in the meeting after due deliberations over the latest political and security scenario in the state and the various issues confronting different sections of the society. Former MP and Senior Congress leader Shri Madan Lal Sharma and Former Deputy Chief Minister Shri Tara Chand spoke on the various issues in the resolution which was moved by Chief Spokesperson Mr. Ravinder Sharma-(Ex-MLC).
Mr. Mula Ram-Vice President in his address appreciated the efforts of PCC to galvanise the party in all parts of the state by holding series of programmes at all levels. As Chairman of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Committee, he threw light on the life of Ambedkar and expressed gratitude that party high command has decided to observe programmes throughout this year in the county in connection with 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar to remember his contribution to the nation.
The meeting also condoled the sad demise of veteran Congress leaders who passed away recently during the intervening period of the last Executive Committee Meeting namely Shri G. R. Kar, G. M. Mir Poonchi, Sonullah Dar and Smt. Farida Mir. Two minutes silence was observed to pray for peace to the departed souls.
