Dr Singh interacts with civil society members, seeks cooperation in making Jammu a tourist hub
Jammu, September 24: Expressing satisfaction over the performance of present dispensation in translating its words into action, Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, on Thursday made it clear that the PDP-BJP alliance, which is working with seriousness and responsibility, would successfully last for the full term.
“Although it is a stupendous task to bring the existing system back on track but with our firm determination and vision we will gift the people an accountable and transparent dispensation which they deserve”, maintained the Deputy Chief Minister while interacting with prominent citizens of Jammu during an interaction function organized by the civil society members in the backdrop of Eid, Navratras and Diwali festivals.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture, Priya Sethi, MLAs, Sat Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Dr Gagan Bhagat and Daleep Singh, MLCs, Ashok Khajuria and Romesh Arora besides representatives of various social and business organizations were present on the occasion.
Dr. Singh said that Jammu is popularly known as abode of peace where everyone is received with love and affection as hospitality is the basic tenet of our state which is blessed with unique composite culture and abundant scenic splendor. He said that such events further add to the governments’ efforts of creating a comfortable and hospitable atmosphere besides helping in ensuring equitable development. He said that the Jammu region is bestowed with abundant scenic grandeur and potential and the government is envisaging a number of ambitious projects to tap the same to the fullest. He sought cooperation from the citizens in realizing the dreams of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that their role is of utmost importance in this regard.
The Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the organizers of the function for holding such programme in which prominent citizens from all faiths have come to share their views on common agenda of development and growth of the region. He said that such events not only help in further cementing the bonds of love and amity but also prove to be of great significance in taking the development profile further.
Spelling out various initiatives of present dispensation being taken up for development of the region, the Deputy Chief Minister said that speedy execution of beautification and preservation work on Mubarak Mandi complex, development of Tawi lake, establishment of Rs 201 crore multi parking at General Bus Stand and Rs 25 crore parking project at Panjtirthi, implementation of R-APDRP are some of these endeavors. He also elaborated on various development projects being planned by the government for implementation soon which inter-alia include sewerage management of 17 nallahs in Jammu city, expansion and elevation of Jammu Railway Station, development of Hari Singh Park, development of 18 virgin lakes in Jammu division, Essel World and Amusement Park at Ranjit Sagar Dam, creation of Yoga Centers at Mantalai and Patnitop, etc.
Priya Sethi informed that a comprehensive plan to rope in expert companies for holding light and sound shows and related prgrammes to attract tourists is being formulated. She also said that the government is working under a well knit strategy to restore and preserve the spots of the state having cultural, religious and historical significance.
