Five people were injured today during a clash between PDP and BJP workers at an agitation in Rajouri for a separate Nowshera district in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the first of its kind of incident since formation of PDP-BJP govt, ruling coalition workers clashed today at Nowshera during the ongoing agitation for district status.
Sources informed that PDP Leader Om Prakash Choudhary, a relative of MLC Surinder Choudhary had clash with BJP  Bhawani Mandal president Bahadur Singh and Narinder Mangu ,BJP district vice president during the peaceful procession.
“Five people were reportedly injured in an assault by some people in Nowshera belt (Rajouri district),” a senior police officer said.
The injured BJP Leaders have been admitted in Sub district hospital Nowshera and later shifted to GMC Jammu.
BJP MLA Ravinder Raina in a statement alleged that PDP workers had assaulted his party’s leaders in Nowshera and “critically” injured them.

Beopar Mandal president and chairman Sangarsh Committee Nowshera Subash Kapoor and others criticized the incident.  He said Nowshera is united and will keep on protesting till the demand is agreed.

Sarpanches Bhadur Singh and Sukhdev Singh, Chhotu Ram Choudhary, Narinder Kumar alais Mangu and Om Parkash were injured, he said, adding that they were referred to the GMC hospital in Jammu after treatment at Rajouri.

The police have registered a case and the matter is being investigated, the officer said. PTI
