PDP demands for early assessment of damages to Horticulture & Agriculture sectors

Srinagar, June 10: Feeling concerned over the damages caused to horticulture & Agriculture sectors by hailstorm at various places in valley PDP has demanded early assessment for relief.

Peoples Democratic Party  General secretary Nizamudin Bhat and MLC Mohammad Khurshid Aalam have invited attention of Horticulture, Agriculture and Revenue ministers towards the grave situation that has arisen out of the calamity.

The two leaders said Horticulture and Agriculture sectors were already under stress due to flood and bad weather. The hailstorm have now made the situation worse in productive areas like Shopian, Pulwama, Sonawar, Bandipore and Anantnag.

Bhat and Aalam said it is an early relief to individual victims that can provide an incentive to sustain these two sectors  of economic importance and give strength to farmers and growers to pull on.

Both have demanded that revenue and other relevant agencies be geared for accurate , fair and timely assessment of losses with a financial provision for adequate support.

Bhat and Aalam hoped that state government will exhort upon union government also to meet the losses arising out of calamities like floods, rains windstorm and hailstorm.

They said that PDP accords due importance to Agriculture and Horticulture sectors and has always kept the centre posted of the relevance of these sectors for economic growth and production.

They expected central government to come forward for required help so that people’s confidence in the system is not shaken beyond repairs. Both expressed confidence that political experiences will not be allowed to come in the way of development and right of individuals in a welfare state.
