Jammu:PDP Jammu unit on Saturday strongly condemned the house arrest of party leader Parvez Waffa, who is a close aide of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, in Deeli Langar area in Kunjwani, Jammu. Restrictions were imposed on his movement as the vehicle of police patrolling party was also placed outside his house.
In a statement issued here, PDP leaders described it as a mockery of democracy and a state of undeclared emergency that the several party leaders were placed under house arrest. They said it occurs first time in the history of the state. Administration at one hand claimed total normalcy and removal of all the restrictions in Jammu and at the same time mainstream political leaders got barred to raise their genuine voice.
“The action of the administration is undemocratic and unconstitutional. The detention of party leaders are the violations of the right to freedom of speech and expression guaranteed by the Constitution,” they said, terming it as an undeclared emergency imposed in the Jammu and Kashmir without any justification.
