The decision of the PDP to vacate the official bungalow of the Chief Minister, and to cancel a crucial meeting in Jammu on February 3 has led to speculation that the party might not be interested in continuing the alliance with BJP or even forming the next government. In case none of the parties are able to cobble a coalition , then the PDP might prefer for an early election in the state.
PDP patron Mehbooba Mufti was supposed to hold an important meeting party leaders, and activists from Jammu region on February 3 to discuss the future course of action. However, PDP has cancelled this meeting, and now one to one meetings will be held when Mehbooba comes to Jammu on February2. She is likely to meet only senior leaders, and ministers, and get first hand appraisal of the functioning of the government, and party’s future.
Earlier, the party had called senior workers, party candidates, and zonal presidents to meet the PDP chief. However, the meeting on January 31 in Srinagar is as per schedule which has now given an indication that whatever views the Kashmir section of the party will give are going to get primacy. Party insiders meanwhile said that Tasaduq Mufti, brother of PDP chief is also likely to visit Jammu and hold meetings with the party leaders and activists.
