Peerzada inaugurates cricket tournament
Releases Rs. 20 lakh for renovation, cricket kits
ANANTNAG: The Minister for Hajj, Auqaf & Public Enterprise, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed has said that special attention is being give to promote sports activities in the State, particularly in rural areas, while adequate funds have been spent on creation of sports related infrastructure across the State.
The Minister was addressing after inaugurating a Cricket Tournament at Kokernag today in which 100 Teams of Kokernag Constituency are participating.
The Minister said that a number of projects have been completed including construction of new Sub District Hospital with central heating system facility at a cost of Rs. 3.50 crore during last 6 years. He said construction of Kokernag-Sinthen Road, new school buildings besides two Degree Colleges at Kokernag and Larnoo are among the major achievements of the present Government. He said uncovered areas have been connected through roads network besides replacing of old electric poles and low voltage transformers with new one across the State, including in Kokernag constituency under RGGVY scheme.
The minister also released Rs, 10 lacs, out of his CDF, for the purchase of new cricket kits for the players. He also released Rs. 10 lacs for repairs and renovation of playing fields in Kokernag Constituency damaged due to recent floods.
The Minister also directed DDC Anantnag to provide relief to the flood affected people immediately so that they can re-construct their damaged houses and other structures before on-setting of winter in the Valley.
