The grim state of management and the careless attitude of railway employees at the Jammu Tawi Railway Station have once again disappointed the travelers and tourists in the region. We all know how Jammu and Kashmir is a tourist hub and Indian Railways is undoubtedly the most common and vital element to help evolve the tourism sector here. On an average, over a thousand tourists and pilgrims visit the state every day but it seems that the most vital department is leaving no effort to dishearten the tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir.
The passengers can be seen queued up outside the enquiry window every hour, except the official is barely present there. The tourists can be seen waiting amid chaos and confusion caused because of such absence and carelessness. The staff of the enquiry counter is never found on their seats and the tourists are left with no other option than wandering here and there and enquiring from tea stall owners and coolies.
The department barely delivers timely service as most of the time the seats are empty while the travelers wait outside for hours. There administration has displayed a board at the counter with the list of trains and their scheduled time and platform number and that’s the only information one can seek. If a person needs to enquire about a train to any particular station, the list doesn’t show the exact route and one doesn’t get to know if that particular station will be on the route of that train or not. The Railway station has three platforms and has a LED display board but that only shows the names of three trains at a time and the travelers have to seek help of the coolies and vendors.
