People suffer due to shortage of doctors in three Medical Blocks of Rajouri

Jammu, May 14: The people of the three medical blocks of Rajouri district namely Darhal, Kalakot and Kandi are facing a lot of hardships due to the non-availability of doctors in their areas. The people residing there have to cover a lot of distance in case of any emergency to get consult with the doctors. They will have to come to the district Hospital or Jammu to get medical treatment in case of any emergency. As, out of the 93 sanctioned posts of doctors, 76 posts including 10 of consultant doctors are vacant in these three medical blocks of Rajouri district.

According to The Tribune, 31 posts out of sanctioned 33 posts are lying vacant in the Kalakot Block and in sub-district Hospital Darhal all 10 posts of consultant doctors are vacant. In Kandi Medical Block, 22 posts out of 26 sanctioned posts are also lying vacant. Due to the non-availability of proper staff the senior officials of the department are also facing a lot of hardships to run the working of hospitals. The officials call the doctors from the nearest health centre during any emergency.
