Petrol Diesel prices hike in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir government has increased the rate of tax on sale of motor spirit and diesel and the prices of petrol and diesel have been hiked in the state. As per the order issued by Navin K Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary, Finance Department, the tax rate on the sale of motor spirit and diesel will be levied and paid at the rate of 24% and 16% respectively, with immediate effect.
The order has been issued in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Jammu and Kashmir Motor Spirit and Diesel Oil Act and in supersession of notifications SRO-118 dated April 1, 1999 and SRO-3 dated January 27, 2000.
With the increase in rate of tax, petrol price has increased from Rs. 67.94 litre to Rs. 70.05 per litre and the diesel price has increased from Rs. 49.34 per litre to Rs. 51.03 per litre.
