An unprecedented number of first time voters showed up at the polling booths of Srinagar, despite the chilled weather today. Eight constituenciesPM of Srinagar, in addition to 6 of Anantnag, 2 of Shopian and 2 of Samba went to polls in the fourth phase today. 37.46 per cent polling was recorded till 2 PM.
While Vijaypur and Samba recorded the maximum voter turn out till 2 PM- 63.44 % and 62.03 %, Habbakadal registered only 13.44 %. Doru, Kokernag, Shangus and Pahalgam recorded a healthy voter turn out above 50 per cent- 52.63%, 51.95% 53.46% and 54.63%, respectively. Hazratbal, Zadibal, Eidgah, Khanyar, Amirakadal recorded 22.77%, 20.14%, 21.51% and 21.02%. Sonawar, where Omar Abdullah is contesting from, recorded 33.85% till 2 PM and Anantnag, with Mufti Mohammad Sayeed contesting for PDP recorded 30.58% voter turn out. Batamaloo, despite having the largest electoral registered a low share of polling- 18.73%. Bijbehara, Wachi and Shopian also recorded a healthy share of polling, 44.07%, 36.30% and 39.78%.
