The final 20 seats of the last 123 candidates for the Assembly Elections 2014, will be chosen by over 18 lakh electoral in 20 constituencies spread across Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri districts tomorrow.
With the BJP struggling to convince the valley of its agenda, Phase 5 seems to be fruitful for the party. Major constituencies including Gandhi Nagar, Kathua, Billawar, Basohli seems to be fairly convinced with the agendas of BJP and are overwhelmingly welcoming the BJP to take the lead.
Gandhi Nagar will watch out for BJP vs. Congress as the constituency will see Kavinder Gupta and the current MLA Raman Bhalla constituting against each other. With a margin of 2263 votes in 2008 Raman Bhalla from INC defeated Nirmal Singh of BJP. But despite Raman Bhalla’s achievements in the area people would likely give chance to Kavinder Gupta from BJP this year.
Basohli is another major constituency watching out for the BJP against NC. Jagdish Raj Sapolia with his return to INC will be contesting with Choudhary Lal from BJP.Both the candidates changed their parties in 2002 and in 2008 Sapolia finally won from BJP but with Lal singh‘s entry in BJP Sapolia is contesting for INC again. The constituency saw Sapolia’s win over JKNC with a margin of 2881 votes in 2008. Davinder singh is contesting from the constituency for JKNC.
Billawar saw victory of Indian National Congress with a margin of 13.47 per cent. Nirmal Kumar Singh is in fray this year contesting for BJP against Manohar Lal Sharma from INC. Sanjeev Khajuria from JKNC and Jatinder Singh from JKPDP.
Kathua will watch out for Rajiv Jasrotia and Jatinder Singh in fray. Jasrotia being a popular leader has the faith of people and claims that BJP will definitely succeed in the 44 plus mission. He concretely carries forward the ‘developmental agenda’ of BJP. Jatinder singh from INC will contest against Jasrotia and with Congress’ dream of victory lagging far behind, Jasrotia assures his win in the region.
Bani will look forward to Jewan Lal contesting against Ghulam Hyder Malik from JKNC and Mohd. Salim Lone of JKPDP and Pawan Dev Singh of JKNPP.
Nand Kishore of BJP from Nagrota is in tussle with Devender Singh Rana of JKNC.
Jammu East will see Rajesh Gupta (BJP), Bimla Luthra (JKNC) and Bikram Malhotra(INC) in the contest for the final phase. Following the steps of Modi’s dynamic leadership Rajesh Gupta assures the public of development and empowerment of the constituency. The constituency saw a massive victory in 2008 where BJP bagged the seat with a margin of 10433 votes leaving behind Narender Singh of INC. The hopes for BJP in this constituency are again high this year with Rajesh Gupta’s leadership.
Sat Paul Sharma of BJP and Surinder Singh Shingari of INC will be contesting from Jammu West. With BJP‘s win in 2008 with a margin of 13037 votes, leaving behind Shinghari, the party is still counting on this seat.
The saffron party’s performance in this phase will be the deciding factor of BJP’s future in the state. With lesser hopes in Kahsmir, BJP is anticipating to sail through this phase so as to come in a strong position to form the next government. For accomplishing its ’44 plus‘ mission BJP needs to win most of the seats from the region.
The phase will see over 18 lakh voters inking the fate of 213 candidates in the final phase of the five phased elections of Jammu and Kashmir.
