Photo Journalist Awarded for Best Documentation of 2014 Floods
Srinagar: A Day long photo exhibition on the first anniversary of flood was held in the convocation center of Kashmir University organized by the (CRDP) Centre for Research and Development Policy under the supervision of senior photojournalist Javed dar who collected the entries of the exhibition 153 pictures of 20 photographers depicting the floods of 2014 were exhibited including pictures of Javed Dar.Thousands of people came to see the exhibition. Among the 153 pictures 3 pictures were selected and awarded first,second and third prize respectively.
The first prize was awarded to Hilal Ahmad a freelance photographer second prize was awarded to photojournalist Syed shahriyar who is presenstly persuing Masters from MERC Kashmir university.Third prize was awarded to Photojournalist Bilal bahdur of Times of India. Speaking on the occasion senior photojournalist javed dar said these three photographers have done the best documentation of floods the main purpose of the event was to recall the past and showcase the best work done by photojournalists during September 2014 floods in Kashmir.
The awards were given during a ceremony attented by senior including Shuja’at Bukhari, international cricketer Parvez Rasool, film actor Dipti Naval, renowned cartoonist Bashir Ahmad Bashir, poet and satirist Zarief Ahmad Zarief, ex-Bureaucrat and social activist Muhammad Shafi Pandit besides academicians, civil society members and huge gathering of students.The ceremony was moderated by playwright and general secretary, AMK, Amin Bhat, journalist Gowhar Geelani and RJ Nasir.
