Placement drive, employment carnival on Sept 10 and 11

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 26- District Administration today finalized arrangements for placement drive and employment carnival for youth to be organised at Udhampur on September 10 and 11. District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, reviewed the preparedness and rolled out strategy for maximum placement under UDAAN scheme apart from awareness on departmental schemes and  called upon officers for making extraordinary efforts for making placement drive a success.

In view of poor response from candidates under UDAAN the district administration has already initiated a mass contact programme for creation of awareness among masses for availing placement and employment benefits under the scheme. The DDC directed all the officers for coordinated efforts in next two weeks for organising a mega placement drive and employment Carnival

In the placement drive 10-20 corporate companies shall be visiting  GDC Udhampur(Boys) campus under Udaan scheme  on 10th and 11th September for placement of unemployed local youths. It was  informed that the opportunities are open for graduates, Post graduates , professional degree holders and diploma holder engineers between 18-35 years of age. Status of unemployed youth and trend of qualifications required was also discussed. Officers from departments of Rural Development, Employment, Industries, Education, Revenue, Higher Education and ITI presented their views for improvement in UDAAN placement drive.

Appreciating the efforts of Principal GDC for proactive measures taken to make UDAAN a success, the DDC informed that a wider plan has been carved out for revival of UDAAN. DDC directed DIO Udhampur for dissemination of information through Radio and Doordarshan, print and electronic media. He also instructed ACD Udhampur to spread awareness through Gram Panchayats and Dy Director Employment Exchange to share database with the NSDC and approach each of the registered youth. A series of workshops have been planned at District, Sub-Division, Tehsil and Block level.

It was also decided that series of mock tests will also be conducted in the district for bringing confidence among youths and providing better placement to them under the scheme.

A resource pool of 60 officers and educators will hold pre-placement training of the desiring and deserving graduates for enhancing their communication skills and confidence of personality tests. Batches of 50-100 youth will be trained at Tehsil headquarters prior to UDAAN placement drive. It was decided to hold pre-placement trainings at Chenani, Latti, Ramnagar, Panchari and Udhampur.

JD Planning Rakesh Jamwal, Principal GDC Udhampur Bhalwal, Asstt Commissioner Development, Dhananter Singh, Asstt Commissioner Revenue, Rajeev Magotra, AD Employment, CEO, Distt Information Officer, Principal Women college and officers from various departments participated in the meeting.
